This is another gimme — “Serenity,” the original Firefly pilot, is a great war movie and a great cowboy movie and a terrific space action movie, with so many terrific character moments and enough artful camera work that you really believe that you’ve lived through the Battle of Serenity and you’re now living with Mal on the edges of the system.
I’ve just started rewatching Firefly over the weekend since I picked up the Blu-Ray version a while back. I can’t tell you how much I love this series. I fell in love with the characters and watching the extras gave me a new found respect for the art direction.
I totally agree with the article as well. There’s so many great scenes in Firefly that I kept thinking they were in the Serenity movie since they were major set pieces but actually in the series itself.
If you haven’t watched Firefly, you owe it to yourself to do so. Like many things, it’ll take a few shows for it to take, but once it does, it won’t let go.
