iPhone: You’re Tapping it Wrong
I was talking to a friend about how he likes his iPhone. This was when they first came out. The conversation turned to him telling me he hardly ever takes it out in public “…because, let’s face it, you look like a dork using it.” I don’t know if I really agreed with him then but I think I know now what he’s talking about. Most people look like dorks using it.
Yesterday, when on the train into work, I watched as this guy navigated his iPhone. Every tap was so deliberate and then always followed by a pronounced pull back of his finger. As if he was casting some magic spell with his index finger. People, you don’t have to tap it this way. A simple tap, tap, tap will do. I know Apple wants you to think it’s magical, but that only is “if you don’t understand it”. Please stop doing this. Leave the grand gestures to your Wiis, your Kinects, and PlayStation Moves.
